My Volunteer Experience - Malcolm

Malcolm's 10 years of loyal service was recognised at the All Staff Town Hall on 2 November 2023. Congratulations!

91Â鶹¾«Æ· wanted to highlight our affection for 'the old guard' our experienced and established 91Â鶹¾«Æ· veterans. People who make up our core team, return regularly each week to volunteer and keep the service running. They assist in decision-making, idea development and implementation, check and create processes, and critically, help our new volunteers and interns find their feet. We felt we were more than overdue to introduce, acknowledge and thank some of our team members.

Our Volunteer Malcolm
Malcolm is our longest serving volunteer here at Connecting Up, having joined us on the 16 October 2013. Malcolm has kept the wheels running, by continually updating first the Connecting Up directory and then the 91Â鶹¾«Æ· directory ever since.

Malcolm works offsite and contributes 15 hours each week and has contributed what we estimate to be more than 8,107 hours in total since joining our organisation. He has reached 'Fleet Admiral' level in the 91Â鶹¾«Æ· Starfleet chart - and has surpassed all our other Starfleet ranks and is our highest rank based on contribution hours to 91Â鶹¾«Æ·.

Malcolm tirelessly updates our many community service listings, ensuring the community has access to relevant and up-to-date information. Malcolm will be retiring on the 28 April 2025 and we don't know what we will do without him! Thank you Malcolm!

About Malcolm
Malcolm doesn't like to make much of a fuss and is camera-shy, but it is his steady and error-free updating work that keeps the home fires burning at 91Â鶹¾«Æ· and allows us to try other projects to clean up the 91Â鶹¾«Æ· data and work on enhancing the program as a whole.

Malcolm is the one that notices any changes and contacts us to let us know if there are issues occurring with the database, or field anomalies, record and listing trends and interactions via the updates and emails.

He takes on and trials our new listing changes, lets us know of areas we haven't thought of and need to consider, and always ensures that he has generated his own next series of listings independently to work on for the weekend shift.

Malcolm is an 91Â鶹¾«Æ· rock, a volunteer foundation stone and we thank him for his continued and dedicated service and wish him all the very best with his retirement.

Call us any time Malcolm, we enjoy your phone conversations - don't ever be a stranger!!
